Family Filled Weekend

Guess who’s back ? Hehe. Well, Scott & Kevin came down and stayed all weekend and went bow hunting with Jr. Saturday & Sunday. Kev. got a shot at a deer, but they could never find it. I made alot of “goodies” for the boys when they were down. Kevin said that he probably gained his weight back lol. He sure lost enough of it- Walmart working, hmm. maybe I should get a job? Yeah, that was a good thought for oh about 1 second lol.

Rita and girls came down Saturday. I hadn’t seen them since Britt stayed w/ Amber here. She needed someone to bash men with and I am all for helping out a friend lol and men- they are such easy targets lol. Too bad I don’t have alot of ammunition, my guy is one of the few great ones.

Jr bought me a new computer yesterday so I’m having fun getting all of my former crap back on. Now I have one for the kids to play on too. Jason played on it today.  Mom & dad came down and Shirley and Jason came over today it was a blast! I made 3 boxes of tacos, a cake, baby ruth brownies, chips, dips, icecream and candy. (Yeah, I always have to feed people lol). We played a few board games which was ok but it was fun playing “Crazy Lakin Rummy” and “Euchre”.  Jr came home early & dad & I kicked his & moms butt at it lol.  They were here ’til 10.

Shirley brought over about 100ish craft books, we are going to start some Christmas projects. I can’t wait! She is one of the closest people to me and she comes over once a week at least. I’m so glad I moved down here and got to spend more time with her. I have to say, with my  depression and  going through the health things I have been she has been someone who has kept me positive. One of those people who are always happy- and it is catching when you are around her very long.

     Well, Gotta Go. $tephanie

Stuck In CyberSpace

It’s 3 a.m. and I’m stuck in cyber space. Alone in Christian Chat 3 under an unfamilar name listening to Biblical Scholars, fading in the background just listening and learning. So many of them are far above my biblical intellect.

Nobody online to talk to, and being so shy and antisocial I would probably stay on invisible anyways lol.

On to another topic, I watched Steve Irwin’s memorial service and just bawled my eyes out. It was especially sad when his daughter Bindi read her speech about her dad. Then later Terry saying she lost her prince. I know what it’s like to meet your soulmate and couldn’t ever imagine the pain of living without them/him. My prayers definatly will continue to go up for the Irwin family. Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

The poem also someone wrote “The Crocodiles Are Crying”, read it if you get a chance. Bindi has a show coming on next season though- “Little Jungle Girl” or something like that, I will sure be watching for it.

And Anna Nicole Smith’s son dying so young- wow. You just never know. That’s why it pays to get ready for life hereafter. We never know when our lifes light will just be snuffed out. Serve the Lord & be ready.

Enough for now, sorry it’s so boring again lol. Maybe I’ll write some personal things next time.

This & That

Hey, It’s just been so long that I thought I would catch ya all up.

I have been getting out alot as far as parties, mainly that is all I have been doing lol. My family is party nuts! They threw me a surprise bday party followed by Glenn a surprise 60th a few weeks later, followed by Barb & Joe a surprise Anniversary, then we had Alysa’s Bday party, the Reunion, and Teah & Renee’s Baby Shower.  This weekend is Shirley’s bday cookout for her grandkids. Yay. This helps me get out- as many of you know I deal with fears (maybe undiagnosed Agoraphobia).  Usually I skip everything but I’m trying to change that some, plus needing some home video footage for Christmas dvds for the family helps keep me motivated in getting out lol.

My aunt Shirley  comes over on most Sundays & we play games. I got a few new ones this week to try on her. Family Feud on DVD & Bunco. I’m glad I have some family close by.

Well, somethings I should note/mention that have happened since my last entry- Auntie died of Cancer, we saw the anniversary of another 9-11, Jr’s sister has the shingles, and I taught Sasha how to shake paws.

I’m not really in a diary mood- sorry this is all over the place. I guess if you wanna know what is going on in my real life just ask me lol.

      God Bless, Stephanie

A Bookworm Blog

Grinch

Hello fellow bloggers! Well, what have I been doing lately? Let’s see.. I re-read a favorite book yesterday, “Death From Child Abuse..And No One Heard”.  I do that alot (re read  books that I had previously read). It is one of the earliest cases of child abuse where a girl was literally tortured for the last 50 hours of her life. She was made to eat soap, stand in suitcases all night, stand outside in the Fla. heat  until she  peed her pants, then beaten for doing it.  When she did go to school they gave the teacher a note telling her not to let her drink anything. It is really sad. The little girls Name was Ursula Sunshine Assaid. (her dad wanted her to have the initials USA).  After doing research, I found out her killer (stepdad), was beaten to death later by an inmate after hearing a radio broadcast of Ursula’s  death  14 yrs. later. Hmm.  I can fly through books when they are interesting. The other book I am reading is , “Three Wishes” by Barbra Delinsky. It is going quite slow because it is a fiction book and I have trouble staying as interested. In this one the main character has a near death experience, she comes back and  finds God has given her 3 wishes. She is hesitant about using them because when the third wish is up she wonders if her life will be too. I’m not very far into it though. I wonder what would you wish if you really had three wishes? What would I wish? I wouldn’t deem anything important enough for me to use them all on myself and I wouldn’t be smart enough to ask for wisdom like Solomon, but then again, Solomon was a king so I imagine he already had alot of material things & comforts that others would wish for. I wouldn’t even finish the book but I am curious as to what she will wish for.

I try to read the Bible everyday, so that gives me enough reading to not want to do a whole lot more. My favorite Bible Books are: 1& 2 Corinthians, & Psalms. It usually changes. My worst book is: Song Of Solomon (I feel like I’m reading Shakesperian drivel). I know, it’s probably crazy for a poet not to like that  book.

   Well, I’m off. Peace out!

   -Love, Stephanie

Just Ragging On The Rag Mags!

britt Yes, I have a new beef- those darn rag mags! I just love keeping up with what the celebrities are doing, wearing, who they are dating etc. but I think sometimes the rag mags go way to far. I am a subscriber to “Star” and “The Globe” and delight when the newest edition is in my mailbox, but here lately they have been getting on my nerves. I can’t open up a copy of Star without something negative about Britney Spears. Ok, so maybe baby Sean has been dropped one too many times, and maybe Brit. has made bad choices with the no car seat drama etc. but when you have to publish an article about Britney eating unhealthy,  with as evidence, a picture of K-Fed buying groceries & them showing a close up of wonder bread and Tostitoes in his cart, sheesh, they must be hard up for things to write about.

          starmagbrit

Moving on to another  irritation  of mine is how  for years they slammed John & Patsy Ramsey in the mag. (Star was even sued). And  made them look  like they killed their daughter, yet when Patsy died just a month ago from her extended bout with ovarian cancer they printed the next issue portraying her in a innocent light! Why not say that while someone is living? I’m not saying she was innocent, but why run down their name and print articles of their guilt or suspicions therof yet, as soon as she dies, print an article to cast her in an innocent light?

         rams

And  am I the only one who doesn’t care or read the articles about “Brangelina” (Brad & Angelina) or Ben A. & Jen?

And Oprah’s gay? What! Many people can have a bestfriend without wanting to sleep with them.  *Sighs* what will be in the next edition Dr. Phil’s love-triangle? lol…

I’ll just keep buying my mags  and lining their pockets. I mean if the celebs who don’t like it either buy the mags why ahouldn’t I? (Star does “Star Sightings” which shows celebrities caught buying their magazine”. Britney was one of them). Oh My!  Laters! Steph

Early Anniversary Wishes

           weddinng

Wow, has it been that long ago? lol.  We are coming up on our anniversary soon. We got married July 22,1988. In this picture we look like we were married in the 70’s lol. Oh the budget prom dress reject and the polyester Goodwill suit lol. Thank God we have come so much farther than those penniles days, not that there is anything like being dirt poor to keep a person humble- but such times are rough too. Now I’m a pampered princess who has to wear certain things (and they sure aren’t pink polka dotted prom dresses lol). B.T.W., yeah I know my husband looks  stoned or 1/2 asleep in the picture- trust me he isn’t- just one of those  ‘caught at a bad moment photos”. He still looks like a cutie though :) .

Jr is my best friend- besides God of course, duh! We have been together since 1985 and were first loves- (In all aspects if u know what I mean). Today we are even closer- we have grown so much as a couple. I think our marraige really got rock solid when we both met Christ. It was ok before- but I can say now that it’s beyond ok. I just wanted to show a little love for the greatest man in my life, many people live a lifetime and never know such a love. It’s of fairytales really. I still miss him through the day, I still have days I feel “love-sick” too lol. What we have is what songwriters write songs about, or  producers make movies about.  Enough bragging lol. I’m just in love and love lovin’ him.

Happy Anniversary To Me. (Yeah so I’m a few days early).

Tribute To The 80’s

Tribute to the ’80s

Hehe i was just laying in bed thinking of all of the crazy fads that have came and went and that I have been a part of and survived through.

Being a teen in the 80’s I took part in some of the big trends at the time. Here are a few fashion fads that I was a victim of lol.

1. The “Flashdance Look”- anyone else remember that? When the show came out and all of a sudden everybody was donning legwarmers and cut off sweatshirts- or 1/2 shirts ? Guilty! It was not a pretty look when I only had 3 pair of legwarmers (pink, pink n blue checked, mint green), I had to wear them to be cool and can you imagine pink with a red shirt? Yeah I did it. Can anyone say “color coordination?” lol. Don’t forget- you had to add those huge chandelier swinging or plastic tacky earrings. My favorite were a pair of lime green plastic triangles- they were huge and  see thru,. And the headbands galore- stretchy,braided,wooden-beaded- u name it. Also Ballerina flats- shoes that looked like ballet shoes that criss crossed on top- Murphy’s Mart sold the black ones for $15 and I was fortunate enough to get a pair lol.

2.My Hard rock stage- I went through the bad metal groups stage where I listened to the big hair bands and  decided to do the black look. No lie, that school year I picked out mostly black and  Harley Davidson Tshirts- got out the black mascara  and had raccoon eyes lol. My bff and I would draw a teardrop or a cross w/ it by the side of our eye (one of the bands done it, was it Ratt or Motley Crue)? Who knows, who cares! It was crazy. Also big heavy apparel- big chains and a bunch at once, dog collar wrist bands (stuff people might consider bondage wear now). But my image was to be the tough girl- I quickly grew tired of that look and music and moved on w/in a year though (Thank God)! I found POP music lol. Wham woke me up before I go-goed lol!

Only to pick up more crazy trends!!!

*The folding the pants to the knee look… Who thought of that? Some stylist in a flooded city or what!? I dunno, but it was popular….

* beaded safety pins on your sneakers shoestring — kind of like friendship bracelets which came along a little later– you gave them to your friends or if you just had a few like me you made your own LOL!

*Jelly bracelets- what were they like 10000 for $1? It seemed like it! And we would wear a arm full half way up to the elbow (I see that look came back but now for kids u get them from doing sex acts (what I saw on dateline), Yeah, u give them to someone u wanna do or have done something with, supposedly each color means a diff. thing, I guess I’m not young enough to get it or know how the bracelet thing works. Ugh, it doesn’t surprise me, everything has to have a sexual referance nowday. No good clean fun. Anyways, back to my list.

*Suspenders on jeans- u bought the jeans with them. This was a trend prob. when I was 16. Yes, I had some. They weren’t for holding up pants- just some kinda fashion statement lol. They came in all colors and different type of clips.

*Leggings- Ok so I never truly got over this trend as I still have them- but I have seen these r back in style (I do read fashion mags and watch fashion channels) Ashlee Simpson’s video L.O.V.E shows her dancing around in a pair- U go girl lol. In my days these were hot and they came in stirrup, reg, capri length and if u were really lucky like me u had this type of legging bibs that had the suspenders mentioned above made right on as straps LOL!!

*Badges,Michael Jackson Tshirts- Ok, so Michael Jackson came out and we went nuts! Kids loading their clothing down with MJ badges- MJ puffy stickers, trading cards, posters, etc. I loved him and did the whole MJ thing- posters and  all. My baby bro. was a few yrs old  and had to suffer thru “Beat it ” and “thriller” Tshirts when I took him to Church lol.

*clothing with your bf name on it- Ok, so my bestfriend and I were really the only ones who did this but it was a trend to me ok? And maybe we started something because then alot of people started wearing badges that you could buy at the school (have anything put on it for $1) that said I love___ (whoever they were dating). Anyways, I had the “I love Jeffery ” shirts, ballcap, and badges… Um yeah, he was a old flame that died out lol- so yeah the Jeff jersey got retired haha.

*florescent clothing- unfortunatley I only had 2 jogging suits that were this a HOT pink and Bright orange sherbet. These were so hot- anything florescent. And I mean firefighter glow in the dark type– we r talking needing shades type clothing lol. I saw u can still pick up the bright joggers at Oddlots for like $2 now (because nobody would be caught dead in them LOL). Man I can see a fat gal like me wearing something glow in the dark? I might as well have a sign on “stare at me, poke and heckle me, Torture me” lol!

*Breakdancer fad– Ok Mc Hammer said “U can’t touch this” and Young Mc showed us how to “bust a move” so the parachute pants came along. Oh what a fab. idea, make your legs look like they r the size of tree trunks and like u dropped a load in your pants or are wearing a diaper. I can’t say I had a pair and being the chunky chic I was, I’m sure that was a good thing. But my bff did have those ugly break dancer shoes like a  canvas converse (I call them paperback converses they r so thin) that the tops folded down and snapped– um I don’t know if hers were checkered though I think they had some tacky design on the side instead. lol A dragon I think?  With that came the plastic pacifers we wore as necklaces (I had a pink one). TLC was the group to blame for making this trend hot. I bought mine out of the gumball machine lol.

Ok and who can mention the 80’s without mentioning Debbie Gibson hats? Remember the one she wore on her album the black derby looking one? But u had to tilt it 2 the side to look cool. (no I didn’t have one). I also didn’t have the Madonna lace gloves but my friend Angie did, or the  granny type pink boots (yeah people call them Jlo boots but Madonna brought them to fashion first!). I did have the big Madonna permed and teased hair and I’m sure I could sing her “Like A Virgin” at the time and mean it lol and it would be  truer than her singing it haha!

Well This is my tribute to the 1980’s  if you haven’t went through it can u say you have truly lived!? This was the best music era too. The era of Mtv back when mtv actually played videos all day and was more about the music then bling bling bootay and rap! You could hear pop, rock, metal. My husband is still stuck in the 80’s in his music. It’s great! I’m still waiting for the hairstyles to come back so I’ll be in style again- I like the big bangs lol. When woman actually fixed their hair instead of just a cut and letting it hang or the crappy straight hair no bangs at all look. Hello anyone heard of a curling iron? lol.

Here’s some of my 80’s favs- Rubiks cubes, Pac Man ,Atari, frosted lipstick

This has been fun- I hope you have enjoyed my trip down memory lane. Now get on out of here in your Gremlin,Pinto or Monte Carlo- yes we were riding in style.

Feel free to leave me a comment of a a 80’s style you were victim to- or whatever era u grew up in
